Essaouira remains a very ignored tourist place despite its splendour. Indeed, it is an area with valuable assets particularily loved by Moroccan tourists during the summer for its ideal climate. The lovers of authenticity, simplicity and calmness will be filled by the small fishing port, the gilded sand beach and the Portuguese ramparts set up in XVIe century, following one another along the coast. The climate is soft, summer like winter, which makes it possible to make very pleasant excursions all the year long.
Monuments

The marina door is among the most prestigious monuments of Essaouira and was built in 1769. This door connecting the medina to the shore, was build on the initiative of the founder of the city, sultan Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdallah. It is decorated with a triangular pediment of traditional on which is engraved the supposed date of its construction.

Formerly, the port was protected by the Sqalla Guns. One can still find there some bronze guns imported from Spain in the 17th century. Beautiful sight on the Purpuraires islands. It is in this beautiful landscape that Orson Welles worked his movie " Othello".

Located inside the medina, this place of moroccan-Portuguese style is the ideal place to have a fresh Moroccan tea. From there, it is possible to go until the ramparts or visit the small neighbouring commercial streets. This strategic site makes the place very alive because inhabitants of the city pass there all at one time or another of the day.
